Ms. Chuang was born in Taiwan where she was an instructor with the Taipei Folk Dance Company. She graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, majored in Chinese dance and was a winner of Contemporary Dance Lecturer in Award Hong Kong. |
Dance classes will feature traditional Chinese music as well as children's songs & stories taught in the Chinese language classes. |
This is the perfect way to learn Chinese culture while having fun & practicing Chinese. Children are required to wear ballet slippers, tights & leotards to class. Boys may wear knit pants & non-skid shoes. |
Dance students will perform at 4 events during the year including the UPENN Chinese New Year January 23, 2010, the City of Philadelphia APA Heritage Event May 22, 2010, the Dragon Boat Youth Team Fundraiser Date TBD, the Harvest Moon Festival October 10, 2009 (Senior Troupe only), and the American Cancer Society Annual Asian American Banquet June 7. She toured with Nai Ni Chen Dance Company and worked with several Choreographers in New York City. Ya Chih has performed in the Netherlands, France, Poland, Korea, China, Canada and United States. Her work was performed at the Lincoln Center. In 2000, she was the solo dancer and choreographer representing Asia for the Millenium Cellebration and worked with The Parsons Dance Company in New York Time Square. |
Dance Classes are offered for children 3-6 Junior Dance Troupe 9:30-10:15 and 7-12 yrs old Senior Dance Troup 8:30-9:15 on Saturday mornings in the Pennsylvania location. Classes are taught by Ms. Ya-Chih Chuang. |
